Course information:

This qualification will give you the underpinning knowledge that is required to ensure you can successfully work in a range of different environments in a business administration role. You will develop essential knowledge of how to carry out administrative tasks such as how to manage information and supporting events. You will also learn how to apply your knowledge in a variety of industries and job roles.

Unit 1: Principles of providing administrative services
This unit will enable you to develop knowledge of a range of administrative support tasks, as well as meeting types, different mail services and an understanding of how to organise travel and accommodation. This unit will also allow you to understand the impact of delivering poor customer service.
This unit contains six sections, including:
• Section 1: Understand the organisation and administration of meetings
• Section 2: Understand the organisation of travel and accommodation
• Section 3: Understand how to manage diary systems
• Section 4: Understand how to use office equipment
• Section 5: Understand the use of mail services in a business context
• Section 6: Understand customer service in a business environment.


Unit 2: Principles of business document production and information management
This unit will provide you with an understanding of how to prepare and distribute business documents and identify how information is managed in business organisations.
This unit contains four sections, including:
• Section 1: Understand how to prepare business documents
• Section 2: Understand the distribution of business documents
• Section 3: Understand how information is managed in business organisations
• Section 4: Understand the essential requirements of business documents.


Unit 3: Understand communication in a business environment
This unit will provide you with an understanding of the requirements of written and verbal business communication, including identifying appropriate body language and tone of voice when communicating verbally.
This unit contains the following section:
• Section 1: Understand the requirements of written and verbal business communication.


Unit 4: Understand employer organisations
This unit will provide you with an understanding of organisational structures and the differences between private, public and voluntary sectors. It will also cover the internal and external influences on organisations and why change in the business environment is important.
This unit contains two sections, including:
• Section 1: Understand organisational structures
• Section 2: Understand the organisational environment.


Unit 5: Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues
This unit will provide you with an understanding of the principles of effective team working, as well as what is expected of a buddy and techniques for providing feedback.
This unit contains two sections, including:
• Section 1: Understand the principles of effective team working
• Section 2: Understand how to buddy a colleague.


Unit 6: Understand how to carry out business administration tasks
This unit provides you with an understanding of how to deal with incoming and outgoing mail, reception services, diary systems management, event organisation and systems for financing in administrator roles.
This unit contains five sections, including:
• Section 1: Understand how to deal with mail
• Section 2: Understand reception services
• Section 3: Understand the management of diary systems
• Section 4: Understand event organisation
• Section 5: Understand finance for administrators.


Unit 7: Understand how to prepare text
This unit will provide you with an understanding of how to create text from recorded notes, as well as knowledge of organisational procedures for storing confidential information.
This unit contains two sections, including:
• Section 1: Understand how to create text from notes
• Section 2: Understand the preparation of text from recorded notes
