Our distance Learning Programme will be opening again on September 1st 2018 for Expressions of interest so have a look at our range of courses and study for some useful and interesting qualifications. We are asking potential Learners to complete the Skill check exercise which is contained within the prospectus as a prelude to joining one of our varied and interesting Level 2 Courses (please follow the Non Union Learn Tab and FBU tag).Our Autism awareness course remains particularly popular and there has been much interest in our Nutrition and Health and our Team Leading Knowledge Courses as well as the Mental Health Awareness course.This year we have in addition a Dyslexia and Specific Learning Difficulties Course which is approximately eight weeks in duration.

The Union Learning role is to promote Lifelong Learning throughout the North East to all FBU members, friends and family, to Fire Authority employees and their families and to Community groups and initiatives
Through our partnerships, with Fire and Rescue Services and Education Providers, we aim to offer different courses throughout the academic year, August to July including the functional skills of literacy, numeracy and IT up to and including Level 2
Our Learning Centre Staff and Project Support Organisers can also provide Information, Advice & Guidance to help you make the right decision on accessing new learning opportunities. If you are not sure about your first step back into learning or need help making the right decision about your next course or qualification then we can help you; we can also provide information that will help guide you to the right learning provider.

For local support and guidance you can contact your ULR's, Learning Champions, RELO or PSO.In Tyne and Wear we have Russ King our R.E.L.O. , in Durham Dave Welsh and his team are on hand and in Cleveland our support is provided by Alec Johnson and his team .In Northumberland we have the Learning Centre and base for P.S.O. Ian Dick but would welcome the recruitment of new learning champions and ULRs to assist us with the delivery of our courses.
We are also able to provide training and education for reps on FBU and TUC education courses and you can contact your RELO , branch, brigade or regional officials.

In Region Three in the coming months we are actively recruiting Union Learning Reps (ULR's,) and Learning Champions for all workplaces to help with the advertising and distribution of learning opportunities and qualifications.
Cleveland and Durham & Darlington also now have new ULR's in place but we are always looking for more volunteers .
