We are now approaching the end of the current academic year's enrolment period, enrolments for our Mental Health Awareness course end in March 2018 with enrolments for the remainder of our courses ending in April and May.
Hello and welcome, I am Alan Griffiths and I am the FBU Union Learning Fund Project Support Organiser (PSO) for Region five.
I am available to visit you at your workplace at any time to provide you with information about our courses or signpost you to other learning opportunities, either as a group or in confidence with an individual visit.
Region five is the North West of England and is made up by Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Services.
The role of the PSO, RELO and ULR is to work together to organise and promote Lifelong Learning throughout the North West and give opportunities to all FBU members to gain further skills and qualifications.
Working with both the Region 5 RELO, Stuary Guy, Stuart.Guy@fbu.org.uk and lead Union Learning Reps and Learning Champions in the brigades allows us to organise enrolment, promote all the courses and learning opportunities and encourage our members to complete their choice of course to achieve a new or enhanced qualification.
Our Learning Centre Staff and Project Support Organisers can also provide Information, Advice & Guidance to help you make the right decision on accessing new learning opportunities. If you are not sure about your first step back into learning or need help making the right decision about your next course or qualification then we can help you; we can also provide information that will help guide you to the right learning provider. Just contact our National Learning Centre Staff or your local Project Support Organiser and we can arrange a face to face meeting or discuss via telephone or even Skype!
Through our partnerships, with the North West Fire and Rescue Services and Education Providers, we will offer to all fire service employees and their families, education and learning courses.
The Union Learning Rep or Learning Champion will be on hand locally to provide support, information and guidance for FBU members and can also provide confidential advice should learners need it.
In Region five in 2014 we are actively recruiting Union Learning Reps (ULR's,) and Learning Champions for all workplaces to help with the advertising and distribution of learning opportunities and qualifications.
You can register your interest in any of the courses by clicking on the link on the homepage.
If you do wish to know more about becoming a Learning Champion and what is entails then please contact me on 07917 759 483 or email me Alan.Griffiths@fbu.org.uk
